Plant 2,750 native trees around the Sycamore wetland in Los Angeles
Help us clean and replant the Sycamore wetland before the November planting window closes.
🇺🇸 Los Angeles, California, United States2,138 views
The Sycamore wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 54 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 55 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $640
• Tools and protective gear: $370
• Native saplings and stakes: $590
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

hang in there, Gianna. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Hang in there, Gianna. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't give up.
Thinking of you and your family. Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Obuasi so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Los Angeles.
