Nahid is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an agriculture degree at the Jessore Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $550.
The registrar has said Nahid can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Nahid has a first-class average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Nahid would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Nahid isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $550 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $250
• Final term tuition: $270
• Textbooks and materials: $30
