Jimma

I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in social work at Jimma University, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a tutor to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $250. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.9 average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $250 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $30 • Outstanding tuition balance: $185 • Exam and lab fees: $35 With deep gratitude, Fasil

Updates from Fasil

Good news. Because of your gifts ($161 in total) I made the first payment toward textbooks and materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($96 in total) the plan for outstanding tuition balance is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Wanted to say thank you properly. 52% funded and we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

Rooting for you, Fasil. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in London but we're thinking of you. Greetings from London
