Berhanu is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an accounting degree at the Jimma Institute of Technology, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $300.
The registrar has said Berhanu can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Berhanu has a 3.9 average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Berhanu would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Berhanu isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $300 goes:
• Textbooks and materials: $20
• Final term tuition: $250
• Exam and lab fees: $30
I hope life is good to you.
