Aparecida is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an electrical engineering diploma at Belo Horizonte Polytechnic, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,750.
The registrar has said Aparecida can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Aparecida has a first-class average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Aparecida would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Aparecida isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Belo Horizonte Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
