Neighbors' Pantry: keep the shelves full this rainy season
The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Iztapalapa is running low just as demand rises; $1,050 will stock it for 6 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Monday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 170 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 53% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Iztapalapa market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $610
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $270
• Baby formula and diapers: $65
• Refrigeration and electricity: $105
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

You're not alone. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Bengaluru donated after I showed her your page. Take care
You're not alone, Alberto. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Iztapalapa.
Keep going, Alberto. Hope this works out for you. God bless.
