My delivery van: Alice's only way to earn a living
Alice drives for a living in Oakland, and a broken engine head gasket has stopped all income for 3 weeks.

I make my living with my delivery van. 3 weeks ago the engine head gasket failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $500. Without the vehicle I earn nothing.
I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask.
I support my 4 children. Before the breakdown I worked ten hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working.
I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here.
I'll pay the mechanic directly and show you the repaired vehicle in an update.
Where the $500 goes:
• Labor charges: $170
• Road tax and insurance renewal: $185
• Towing and inspection: $145
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Thinking of you and your family, Alice. Hope the shop reopens soon. Greetings from Athens
Gave what I could, wish it was more. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Oakland.
