Mason was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer in August. The oncology team at Ottawa University Hospital has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Mason is 36, worked as a taxi driver until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Ottawa University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $11,700 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,000
• Scans and lab work: $1,750
• Transport to Ottawa University Hospital: $1,250
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $310
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,390

What exactly is the $11,700 for?
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. chemotherapy and medication not covered comes first ($7,000) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.
