Let's build a sensory garden for children with autism together in San Diego
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Acacia community hall that will serve 86 neighbors.
🇺🇸 United States351 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,000.
It will serve about 86 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $145
• Materials: $2,600
• Permits and inspections: $255
Every share and every dollar helps.
