Let's build a sensory garden for children with autism together in Birmingham
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $3,300 for materials.
🇬🇧 Birmingham, England, United Kingdom242 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,300.
It will serve about 506 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Materials: $2,200
• Permits and inspections: $320
• Safety equipment and signage: $280
• Tools hire and delivery: $500
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Sending good thoughts. Your post was clear and honest. After 9 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless.
Wishing you peace, Keith. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Blessings.
projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Thinking of Birmingham.
Stay strong. Shared this with my family. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Mthatha
