Let's build a rainwater harvesting system together in Kikuyu
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $350 for materials.
🇰🇪 Kenya982 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 523 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $350 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $95
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Materials: $220
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Thank you all. We're at 38% now ($133). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward tools hire and delivery.
Update from Kikuyu: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 16% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

Good luck. Great idea, hope you get there. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Love from Jakarta.
Keep going, Neema. I hope things turn around soon. After 29 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Stay strong. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'll check back for the next update. Greetings from Iztapalapa
You're not alone, Neema. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Greetings from Lapu-Lapu.
You're not alone, Neema. Your post was clear and honest. God bless
