Let's build a free library and reading room together in Fresno
A community-led a free library and reading room at the Lotus health centre yard that will serve 377 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $2,500.
It will serve about 377 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Materials: $2,050
• Safety equipment and signage: $130
• Permits and inspections: $320

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($2,050) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Happy to explain more.
