Let's build a free library and reading room together in Badagry
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $550 for materials.
🇳🇬 Badagry, Lagos, Nigeria1,688 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 80 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $430
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $40
Thanks for being kind about this.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Funmilayo.
Materials is $430 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.
Hang in there, Funmilayo. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Badagry

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Entebbe this morning!
wishing you the best, Funmilayo. Hope this works out for you. Blessings.
Praying for you, Funmilayo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Pittsburgh
