Kakamega

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Pioneer bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $500. It will serve about 165 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $500 goes: • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $70 • Materials: $385 I hope life is good to you.
