Let's build a covered market stall space together in Bakersfield

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,250, and the remaining cost is $2,550. It will serve about 530 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,550 goes: • Materials: $2,000 • Permits and inspections: $300 • Safety equipment and signage: $250 If you're reading this, thank you. - Leo
