Let's build a community garden together in Ahmedabad
A community-led a community garden at Jacaranda Park that will serve 323 neighbors.
🇮🇳 Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India547 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $175, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 323 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $280
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $85

Praying for you, Shirin. I hope things turn around soon.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Shirin?
Take care, Shirin. Hope you get there. Wish I lived closer to Quezon City so I could bring a meal. All the best
Hang in there, Shirin. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Thinking of Ahmedabad.
Wishing you peace, Shirin. It takes guts to ask. Well done. All the best
hang in there. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it!
Stay strong, Shirin. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Ahmedabad.
