Laura's stomach cancer treatment fund
Laura is facing stomach cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In October I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. My oncology team at Mar del Plata Regional Medical Center has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in January. I was told to expect about 7 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 53, I worked as a taxi driver until October, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Mar del Plata Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,300
• Scans and lab work: $320
• Transport to Mar del Plata Regional Medical Center: $220
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $240
• Household costs while unable to work: $470
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Mar del Plata!
Thank you. If you're in Mar del Plata I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Good question.
take care. Hope this works out for you. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.
Good luck, Laura. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
Best of luck, Laura. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from London.
Wishing you the best, Laura. Shared it with a few friends. Blessings.
Thinking of you and your family. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless.
This could happen to any of us. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from London.

Thanks for sharing this, Laura. Wishing Laura a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Sent it to 29 people at work.
hope it all works out. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 19 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything
