The electricity and water account is 4 months behind. Tomás received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on January unless $150 is paid. He had never been late before a reduction in hours. Tomás called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $35 first, which isn't available. The household includes a parent on oxygen therapy, and going through the rainy season without electricity and water isn't safe. The children would have no light to study by.
