Kathleen is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in civil engineering at Houston Community College, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $6,000. The registrar has said Kathleen can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Kathleen has a 3.8 average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Kathleen would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Kathleen isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Houston Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $6,000 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,600 • Final term tuition: $2,700 • Exam and lab fees: $280 • Textbooks and materials: $420 Thanks for being kind about this. - Imelda

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. outstanding tuition balance comes first ($2,600) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks, that means a lot.

Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out.
