Toronto
Ishita was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in December. The oncology team at Toronto Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in February. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Ishita is 25, worked as a bakery worker until December, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Toronto Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $10,900 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,000 • Scans and lab work: $1,400 • Transport to Toronto Cancer Centre: $810 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $880 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,810 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Updates from Meena

  1. Quick update: $5,333 raised so far (49%). I made the first payment toward nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. We're at 31% thanks to 74 of you. the plan for transport to Toronto Cancer Centre is now scheduled. More news soon.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 12% funded and I made the first payment toward transport to Toronto Cancer Centre.

    • What's already covered and what's the $10,900 for?

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. chemotherapy and medication not covered comes first ($6,000) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for asking.

    • Hang in there, Meena. I hope things turn around soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Cairo.

      • So sorry you're going through this. Looking forward to the next update. It's not much but it's yours. Love from Saint-Denis.
