Hip replacement surgery for Arianna: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled hip replacement surgery in October is out of reach without help covering $3,150 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. My surgeon at London Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $3,950, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $3,150 short.
Doctors at London Regional Medical Center told me a benign brain tumor will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a restaurant cook, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $3,950 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a restaurant cook have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $480
• Post-operative medication: $165
• Travel and lodging for the family: $280
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,225
