Waqas was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in July. The oncology team at Lahore University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in September. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Waqas is 41, worked as a nurse until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Lahore University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,050
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $95
• Transport to Lahore University Hospital: $55
