Help Tommaso get through 5 hard months with a teenage son and a daughter in primary school

Tommaso and a teenage son and a daughter in primary school need a bridge to stability after a sudden redundancy.

Since a sudden redundancy in July, I'm now raising a teenage son and a daughter in primary school on my own. I work as a hairdresser, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries. I'm retraining as a medical coder in the evenings, which will triple my income by October, but I need to bridge the gap until then. Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them. Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward. Money goes toward rent, groceries, after-school care and the cost of my course. I'll give a monthly update with receipts. Where the $3,000 goes: • Rent top-up: $1,550 • Childcare and after-school care: $520 • Groceries and school meals: $480 • Course fees and exam costs: $450 I hope life is good to you. - Tommaso

Updates from Tommaso

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,519 in total) the plan for childcare and after-school care is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Small update. $564 so far, I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts.

So sorry you're going through this, Tommaso. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
