Shu was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in July. The oncology team at Scranton Regional Medical Center has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Shu is 25, worked as a primary school teacher until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Scranton Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $7,700 goes:
• Transport to Scranton Regional Medical Center: $370
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,250
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $440
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,640
