Scarlett is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an agriculture degree at the Los Angeles Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,950.
The registrar has said Scarlett can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Scarlett has a 3.6 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Scarlett would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Scarlett isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
