Rafaela was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in August. The surgeon at Ribeirão Preto Regional Medical Center recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,800, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $2,400 short. my mother has been in and out of Ribeirão Preto Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,800 is more than we can find. While we wait, Rafaela struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks.
