Owen was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in March. The oncology team at Jacksonville Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in June. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Owen is 41, worked as a hairdresser until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Jacksonville Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $9,100 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,300
• Transport to Jacksonville Cancer Centre: $540
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,260
