I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a pharmacy diploma at Amsterdam State College, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a warehouse packer to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $3,450. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.8 average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $3,450 goes: • Final term tuition: $1,850 • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,450 • Textbooks and materials: $150 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Esther

Updates from Esther

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($306 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 5% now ($161). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward outstanding tuition balance.

  3. Update from Amsterdam: I met with the university and confirmed the amounts. We're at 3% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
