I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a nursing degree at the Lagos Institute of Technology, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a barista to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $750.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.6 average, and my academic advisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $750 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $420
• Final term tuition: $250
• Exam and lab fees: $15
• Textbooks and materials: $65

Updates from Chinedu
Thank you all. We're at 36% now ($270). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($85 in total) I met with the university and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Thinking of you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best.
hope it all works out, Chinedu. Shared this with my family. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
