Help Kwabena pay for cataract surgery at Madina University Hospital
A scheduled cataract surgery in April is out of reach without help covering $1,000 of the cost.

Kwabena was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in January. The surgeon at Madina University Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,000 short.
my father has been in and out of Madina University Hospital since January. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Kwabena struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Kwabena won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $520
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $280
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $70
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Physiotherapy sessions: $65
• Travel and lodging for the family: $35
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kwabena.
Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $520. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.
praying for you, Akosua. Get well soon
