Grainne is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a law degree at the Dublin Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,850. The registrar has said Grainne can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Grainne has a first-class average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Grainne would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Grainne isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Dublin Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $4,850 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,350 • Final term tuition: $2,200 • Exam and lab fees: $95 • Textbooks and materials: $205 Glad we found this place. - Sorcha

  • Thinking of you and your family, Sorcha. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. It's not much but it's yours.

    • Hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Dublin.
