The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,150, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,300 short. my daughter has been in and out of Ribeirão Preto University Hospital since May. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,150 is more than we can find. While we wait, Débora struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
