Aria was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer in April. The oncology team at the Bakersfield Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Aria is 58, worked as a farmer until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Bakersfield Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $7,750 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,750
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,150
• Scans and lab work: $850
