Ajay was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in September. The oncology team at San Diego Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Ajay is 27, worked as a hairdresser until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to San Diego Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $8,450 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $390
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,000
• Household costs while unable to work: $2,060
