Madelyn, my grandmother, passed away on 30 August after a short illness. She was 75 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $5,100 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 12 September. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Madelyn to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to the San Francisco hospice. Where the $5,100 goes: • Funeral home services and casket: $3,550 • Cemetery plot and burial fees: $680 • Transport of the deceased: $470 • Memorial gathering for the family: $400 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
