Duque de Caxias
Ricardo was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in August. The oncology team at Duque de Caxias University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Ricardo is 31, worked as a primary school teacher until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Duque de Caxias University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $3,250 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,400 • Transport to Duque de Caxias University Hospital: $230 • Household costs while unable to work: $620 I hope life is good to you.

Updates from Wellington

  1. Small update. $1,370 so far, the first invoice got paid this week.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 32% funded and I made the first payment toward chemotherapy and medication not covered.

  3. Update from Duque de Caxias: we've started the first stage. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
