Rakesh was diagnosed with kidney cancer in July. The oncology team at Mumbai Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Rakesh is 26, worked as a farmer until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Mumbai Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,450 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $790 • Scans and lab work: $160 • Transport to Mumbai Cancer Centre: $170 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $75 • Household costs while unable to work: $255 I hope life is good to you. - Rekha

Updates from Rekha

  1. Small update. $430 so far, the plan for household costs while unable to work is now scheduled.

  2. Update from Mumbai: I made the first payment toward chemotherapy and medication not covered. We're at 6% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
