Fighting kidney cancer: help Irena afford treatment in Katowice
Irena is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In May I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. My oncology team at Katowice University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in August. I was told to expect about 8 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 34, I worked as a shop owner until May, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Katowice University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $390
• Transport to Katowice University Hospital: $440
• Household costs while unable to work: $820
