Feed 395 families each week at Neighbors' Pantry in Likoni

The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Likoni is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 7 weeks.

Likoni
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Saturday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 11 families, and now we feed 395 each week. Donations have dropped by about 37% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Likoni market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $450 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $230 • Baby formula and diapers: $55 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165 If you're reading this, thank you. - Onyango

Updates from Onyango

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($165 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Onyango

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($55 in total) I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
