The the Second Helping pantry in Los Angeles is running low just as demand rises; $2,300 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Monday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 303 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 56% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Los Angeles market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,150
• Refrigeration and electricity: $310
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $840
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
