The Open Hands Pantry pantry in San Antonio is running low just as demand rises; $3,750 will stock it for 12 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Wednesday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 214 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 48% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the San Antonio market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $3,750 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $2,000
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,000
• Baby formula and diapers: $330
• Refrigeration and electricity: $420
