Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Wednesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 195 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 52% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Contagem market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $900 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $620
• Refrigeration and electricity: $75
• Baby formula and diapers: $205
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

More neighborhoods should do this. I hope May is when things finally get easier. All the best.
You're not alone. More neighborhoods should do this. After 16 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Miami.
