San Fernando
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Friday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 16 families, and now we feed 123 each week. Donations have dropped by about 60% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the San Fernando market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $300 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $130 • Baby formula and diapers: $80 • Refrigeration and electricity: $90 Thank you for reading my story.

  • Wishing you the best. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of San Fernando.

    • Best of luck, Herman. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in.
