Emergency hernia repair for Victoria: covering what insurance won't
After a hip fracture that never healed properly, Victoria was cleared for emergency hernia repair, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Victoria was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at Accra Community Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,100, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $550 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Accra Community Hospital since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,100 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Victoria struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Victoria won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $550 goes:
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $65
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $430
• Post-operative medication: $55
