Don't let Paul's family go through winter without gas

A disconnection notice for gas arrived and Paul needs $100 before October.

The gas account is 3 months behind. I received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on October unless I pay $100. I have never been late before losing my job in June. I called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $10 first, which I don't have. I live with a disabled brother, and going through winter without gas isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. I'm working on getting back on my feet, and will pay forward whatever help I can once I'm steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $100 goes: • Heating arrears: $35 • Reconnection and late fees: $20 • Down payment on a payment plan: $45 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Paul

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Paul.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. heating arrears comes first ($35) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.

  • Best of luck, Paul. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

    • You're not alone, Paul. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 18 years in construction I know how hard it is to ask for anything.
