Cristina's final semester of an accounting degree in Los Angeles

Cristina has worked and saved for four years to study an accounting degree; a $4,400 gap now stands between her and graduation.

Cristina is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an accounting degree at Los Angeles Community College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,400. The registrar has said Cristina can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Cristina has a 3.6 average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Cristina would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Cristina isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Los Angeles Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $4,400 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,450 • Final term tuition: $2,500 • Exam and lab fees: $125 • Textbooks and materials: $325 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Beatriz
