Clean streets and rivers for Juiz de Fora: restoring the Liberty wetland
Help us clean and replant the Liberty wetland before the June planting window closes.
🇧🇷 Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil166 views
The Liberty wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 63 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 114 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $470
• Tools and protective gear: $230
• Waste removal and skip hire: $240
• Signage and educational materials: $60
Thanks for reading all this.

Hope it all works out, Sérgio. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless.
Take care, Sérgio. This could happen to any of us. Blessings
thinking of you and your family. Hope you get there. I hope June is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Juiz de Fora.
