Clean air and water for Kanpur: restoring Lotus Creek
Volunteers are restoring Lotus Creek in Kanpur; $200 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇳 India718 views
Lotus Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 75 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 155 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $200 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $35
• Native saplings and stakes: $155
• Signage and educational materials: $10
Thank you so much.

Keep going. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Take care, Radha. Hope you get there

Keep going, Radha. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from São Paulo.
Rooting for you. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from London
