Bea is facing early-stage lung cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In March I was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. My oncology team at the Quezon City Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in May. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 35, I worked as a shop owner until March, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Quezon City Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,000 goes: • Transport to the Quezon City Oncology Institute: $160 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,600 • Scans and lab work: $240 Thank you for reading my story. - Bea

  • Is transport to the Quezon City Oncology Institute the biggest cost or is there more coming?

Transport to the Quezon City Oncology Institute is $160 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for looking so closely.
