Back on our feet: Willem and a toddler and a seven-year-old in Stellenbosch
A single parent in Stellenbosch needs help with childcare, groceries and rent while Willem retrains.

Since a sudden redundancy in July, I'm now raising a toddler and a seven-year-old on my own. I work as a part-time receptionist, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries.
I'm retraining as a dental nurse in the evenings, which will triple my income by November, but I need to bridge the gap until then.
Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them.
Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward.
Every cent is accounted for. I'll share a simple monthly breakdown.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Rent top-up: $480
• Childcare and after-school care: $290
• Groceries and school meals: $260
• Course fees and exam costs: $220
Thank you so much.
Updates from Willem
Quick update: $101 raised so far (8%). I made the first payment toward childcare and after-school care. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
We're at 8% thanks to 3 of you. I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.
